Getting Rid of Acne Scarring

People of all ages suffer from acne. This can be caused by hormonal imbalances, genetics, diet, and many other environmental factors. Getting rid of that acne has been a major part of the skin care industry for decades. Some people have acne that is so severe that even once it is treated and removed, it can leave terrible scars behind that are unappealing to everyone. If you need to remove acne scars, you do have some options to choose from.

The type of acne scarring that you have will determine which treatment options are best for you. For scars that are depressed or sunken in, there are cosmetic filler injections that can be administered to reduce the appearance of the scars. However, if you have scars that are red, raised, or otherwise discolored, you should consider laser treatments or blue light acne therapy to get rid of the troublesome spots. Scar remedies that you buy over the counter generally only provide limited support and success, which is why finding a permanent solution can make all the difference.

Acne scarring that is treated with cosmetic fillers will need to be redone over the course of your lifetime because the fillers are only guaranteed to last for months at a time. Touch ups will be required, likely for life, in order to keep your scars as minimal as possible. This can become bothersome for many, which is why other treatments were developed. Laser treatment is much more effective in the removal of acne scars, because it allows the marks to be almost completely diminished and some will disappear completely. You can find a cosmetic dermatologist near you that will perform this procedure and can answer any questions that you have about it.

If you can no longer live with embarrassing acne scarring, you need to take a proactive role in the treatment of your condition. Many insurance companies will not cover cosmetic procedures, which is why many people do nothing about their unsightly scars. However, most doctors offer payment plans and financing options for cosmetic procedures that can alleviate the expense that comes with having these procedures done. There are literally dozens of procedures that you can have done to remove acne scars that range in price from about $900 to upwards of $3,000 or more depending on the type of treatment and how much you need.

If you opt to use cosmetic fillers to remove acne scarring, you will likely pay anywhere from $300 to $800 per syringe of the solution, depending on which one you end up using. If you do not need a lot of it, the cost will be minimal as compared to the cost for those who need large quantities of the filler to treat all of their acne scars. With so many options for the removal of acne scars, it is important that you take the time to consider all of your options and discuss them with your doctor. One solution does not fit everyone, and the results that you want might require a different method of treatment than would be recommended for someone else with different expectations.
